FAQs

Simulations Design and Facilitation

All Lean Zone simulations are designed as hands-on demonstrations. The participants are actively engaged, and visually see the effects of the implemented changes on production. Simulations are designed for use by your training personnel and contain a facilitator manual that details how to run the simulation.

Differences Between Simulations

Three Simulations: Two simulations are available for the production environment and one simulation for the office environment.  Lean Zone Production Methodologies teaches lean concepts applicable to any production setting.  Lean Zone Sub-Assembly demonstrates how a very large facility can be designed with synchronized work cells feeding into a final assembly work cell.  Lean Zone Office explains how to redesign an office paperwork process.

Add-On Simulation and Replacement Forms: Lean Zone Agile Manufacturing simulation is an add-on to the Lean Zone Production Methodologies simulation and Lean Zone Office 3 Simulation Form Pack contains a replacement supply of forms for Lean Zone Office.

Lean Zone Production Methodologies

Q1. How many people does the Lean Zone Production Methodologies simulation accommodate?

Answer: The kit is designed for 6 hands-on participants. Others can observe but it is our recommendation that you use 6 participants at a time.  The hands-on participation provides a better learning experience.

Q2. Will I need more than one kit?

Answer: We recommend 6 participants at a time for the actual hands-on simulation. Because the simulation only takes one hour, it is possible to schedule many simulations each day to accommodate large numbers of participants. If you need to train more than the recommended number of participants at one time, than we recommend more than one simulation. An experienced facilitator can run 2 simulations simultaneously. More than 2 will require additional assistance.

Q3. Does the Lean Zone® Production Methodologies simulation come with different color interlocking blocks?

Answer: The kits are only supplied with blue interlocking blocks.

Q4. Is it possible to order just the forms that are in the kit?

Answer: The kit comes as an entire package. The intellectual property includes all the work instructions as well as the blocks and other miscellaneous items within the kit. Due to the low cost of the kit, these items are not sold individually.

Q5. I lost some of my simulation's interlocking blocks. Can I purchase new packs for just interlocking blocks?

Answer: The kit comes as an entire package. Due to the low cost of the kit, the blocks are not sold separately.

Q6. What is included with this Simulation kit?

Answer: The kit contains an instruction manual, a carrying case, work instructions, a feeler gauge, markers, and more than 1000 plastic interlocking parts for constructing airplanes.

Q7. Are these Simulations in stock?

Answer: The Simulations are maintained in inventory and will normally ship the same or the next business day.

Q8. Can I try out the Simulation (test run/practice run) before I make a purchase?

Answer: Yes. Please review the Money Back Guarantee for exact details.

Q9. Does the Simulation come in different languages?

Answer: The simulation is currently only available in English.

Q10. Are discounts available?

Answer: Discounts are only available if 10 or more Simulations are purchased at one time. Please email sales@lean-zone.com for the details of high-volume purchases. No educational discounts are currently available.

Lean Zone Agile Manufacturing

Q1. How many people does this simulation accommodate?

Answer: The Lean Zone Agile Manufacturing simulation is an add-on to Production Methodologies, so it is also designed for 6 hands-on participants. Others can observe but it is our recommendation that you use 6 participants at a time.  The hands-on participation provides a better learning experience.

Q2. Can I run this simulation by itself?

Answer: No.  The Agile Manufacturing Simulation is run as a fifth phase, after the fourth phase of Production Methodologies is completed.  The Agile Manufacturing Simulation requires the components from Production Methodologies and the Participants require the training received in Production Methodologies prior to completing phase five.

Lean Zone Sub-Assembly

Q1. How many people does this simulation accommodate?

Answer: The kit is designed for 7 hands-on participants. Others can observe but it is our recommendation that you use 7 participants at a time. The hands-on participation provides a better learning experience.

Q2. Will I need more than one kit?

Answer: We recommend 7 participants at a time for the actual hands-on simulation. If you need to train more than the recommended number of participants at one time, than we recommend more than one simulation. Each additional simultaneous simulation will require a facilitator to assist during the hands-on exercise. Participants can be grouped in higher numbers during the classroom training portion of the simulation.

Q3. What is included with this Simulation kit?

Answer: The kit contains a carrying case, over 2,000 interlocking blocks in four colors and three sizes, over 100 plastic form molded simulation WIP pallets and Raw Material pallets, printed full-scale work station table layouts for each participant area, simulated fixtures used for assembly, laminated work orders, visual signals, facilitator manual, set-up instructions, work instructions for participants, and electronic media with a PowerPoint presentation and Excel metrics spreadsheet.

Q4. Are these Simulations in stock?

Answer: The Simulations are maintained in inventory. The simulations will normally ship the same or the next business day.

Q5. Can I try out the Simulation (test run/practice run) before I make a purchase?

Answer: Yes. Please review the Money Back Guarantee for exact details.

Q6. Does the Simulation come in different languages?

Answer: The simulation is currently only available in English.

Q7. Are discounts available?

Answer: Discounts are only available if 10 or more Simulations are purchased at one time. Please email sales@lean-zone.com for the details of high-volume purchases. No educational discounts are currently available.

Lean Zone® Office

Q1. How many people does this Simulation accommodate?

Answer: Lean Zone® Office accommodates 7 Hands-On Participants. Others can observe but it is our recommendation that you use 7 participants at a time.  The hands-on participation provides a better learning experience.

Q2. Will I need more than one kit?

Answer: If you need to train more than the recommended number of participants at one time, than we recommend more than one simulation. Each additional simultaneous simulation will require a facilitator to assist during the hands-on exercise. Participants can be grouped in higher numbers during the classroom training portion of the simulation.

Q3. Is it possible to order just the forms that are in the kit?

Answer: Yes.  The forms are sold as replenishments to the main kit itself. With the purchase of the Lean Zone® Office kit you will receive a form pack, the work instructions, and other accessories required to perform the simulation. Once you have run out of the provided forms and paperwork, you may purchase a replenishment pack. There are enough forms within each replacement pack to perform three full simulations (with 7 participants in each for a total of 21 participants).

Q4. Why do I need to buy more forms?

Answer: The Lean Zone® Office simulation consumes forms during the simulation. Once you have consumed all your provided forms, then you will need to purchase replacement packs in order to continue your Office learning experience.

Q5. What all comes in this Simulation kit?

Answer: The kit contains an 88 Slide Printed PowerPoint Presentation, a 26 Page Facilitator Manual, 39 Laminated Work Instruction Sheets, Quotation Process Forms (enough for 3 simulations), a CD (containing the presentation and metrics spreadsheet), 9 Inbox Trays, 2 Paper Clip Holders, 1 Horn, 13 Pens, 1 Reusable Carrying Case, 1 Roll of Masking Tape, and 1 Self-Inking Stamp.
